In a world filled with constant change and challenges, the importance of providing stability and support for vulnerable children cannot be overstated. At our small private children’s home, we are dedicated to offering young people a stable and therapeutic living environment all year round. Here, we accommodate up to two male children between the ages of 9 to 18, each with complex needs that may include autism, learning disabilities, and trauma.

Our approach is rooted in a deep commitment to the principles that guide a trauma-informed care model. These six principles serve as the foundation of our work:

1. Safety

The paramount concern in our children’s home is the safety of our residents. We create an environment where they can feel physically and emotionally safe, providing them with a sense of security that is essential for their growth and development.

2. Trustworthiness & Transparency

We believe that trust is at the core of all relationships. Therefore, we prioritize trustworthiness and transparency in our interactions with the children in our care. Through open communication and consistency, we build trust that forms the basis of all our relationships.

3. Peer Support

Peer support plays a vital role in our therapeutic approach. Children often find it easier to connect with and confide in their peers. We foster a sense of community and collaboration among our residents, allowing them to support each other through their unique challenges.

4. Collaboration & Mutuality

We understand that collaboration is key to success. We work closely with the children, their families, and external professionals to provide comprehensive care. Our collaborative approach ensures that we address each child’s specific needs effectively.

5. Empowerment & Choice

We believe in empowering our young residents to make choices that affect their lives. By providing them with opportunities to make decisions and express their preferences, we promote a sense of autonomy and self-esteem.

6. Cultural, Historical & Gender Issues

We acknowledge and respect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our residents. Our care is culturally sensitive and takes into account the historical and gender-related aspects that may impact their lives.

At our children’s home, we embody the values of Aspire, Values, Individuality, and Diversity (AVID). We aspire to create an environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential. We value the uniqueness of each individual, recognizing that their diverse backgrounds enrich our community.

Our commitment to providing a stable and therapeutic living environment extends beyond just meeting the basic needs of our residents. We strive to create a nurturing and empowering space where they can heal, grow and ultimately aspire to brighter futures. Our children’s home is a place where hope is nurtured, resilience is built, and the path to success is illuminated for every child in our care.

In summary, our small private children’s home is more than just a place to live; it’s a sanctuary of stability and support where young people with complex needs can thrive and find hope in their journey toward brighter tomorrows.
